Boys Track Crushes Competition

Amid wind and rain, the boys’ track team traveled to Worthington Christian on Wednesday, April 18, and competed at Whitehall Yearling on Friday, April 21. 

For their first meet of the week, the boys clinched first place in every running event, emerging victorious with 53.5 points against Bexley, Bishop Hartley, Grove City Christian, Madison Christian, and Worthington Christian. 

Gabriel E. sprinted to first in the 100m and 200m with times of 11.2 and 24.0. Elliott ran 2.12.1 for 800m and 4:50.9 in the 1600m, securing two first places as well. 

Gabe D-R. clinched first in the 400m while Dane C. led the 3200m in 10:30.9. Gabriel A. and Charlie B. placed first in the 110m and 300m hurdles with times of 17.6 and 46.1, respectively. 

The 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m, and 4x800m relays also dominated, running 45.7, 1.35.6, 3:50.1, and 9:12.4. 

Although their second meet got canceled halfway through due to thunderstorms, there were several strong showings to begin. 

Chris H., Jono H., Dane C., and Elliott S. strode to first with 8:59.86 in the 4x800m relay, an impressive sub-9 minute feat. The shuttle hurdle team of Gabe A., Charlie B., Stavros M., and Chazlance M. ran 1:08.45 for second.

The Vikings will compete on Homdros for Senior Night on Wednesday, April 26, and travel to Fredericktown on Friday, April 28.
