Those celebrating the Jewish holiday of Passover during April 5-13 have new lunch options resulting from discussions between our Jewish Affinity Group (JAG) and our food service, SAGE.
Sophie L. and Sophie P., JAG leaders, met with Stephanie Campbell, SAGE’s food director to discuss offering of Passover-friendly foods during Passover, an eight day, nine night holiday, during which observers keep kosher in meals that omit leavened bread, yeast, or rice. Common delicacies are coconut macaroons and matzah dishes, such as matzah brei, which resembles lasagna. Matzah, or matzo, represents the flatbread Jews ate when fleeing Egypt, as there was no time for the bread to rise.
Sophie P. says, “Thanks to SAGE for helping implement this! It was big for them and us to change their menu for the week and to be so flexible and open.”
