While many US students spent last Friday after school preparing for upcoming midterms, some savored soup at Otterbein’s Campus Center while supporting a Central Ohio family attain their dream to own a new home. Service Board and Ceramics Club raised over $3800. from their annual Empty Bowls event to benefit Westerville Habitat for Humanity Partnership’s 2023 Walls Build. All proceeds from the evening supply materials went to a home for someone in need.

Around 240 attendees dined on unlimited soup and took home a unique keepsake bowl, 100 crafted by CA students and faculty during our PSAT Bowl-a-thon. In addition to satisfying their stomachs, some like Stavros M. became lucky raffle winners. After dinner, many stayed to enjoy the Progressive Christmas Concert.

If you missed the Empty Bowls event on December 9, you can help build part of a house for future homeowners like James (watch his story using the link below). Every August at Otterbein, about 150 people assemble to help construct the walls for a Habitat for Humanity house.

We hope you can serve others by building walls this summer or slurping soup next December!
