When Academy’s football team faced Bishop Ready on Friday, September 16, the Vikings came out slowly, surrendering a 21-0 lead in the first quarter. After this rough start, they sustained a good drive using 3 Jake C.’s first-down runs before Jack Y. threw a beautiful pass to Tommy J. for a touchdown. Following a Bishop Ready punt, EJ J. broke off a big run to set up a Jake C. touchdown to make the score 21-14. After a Bishop Ready rushing touchdown, Justin A. took a reverse from midfield down inside of the five-yard line. And, following a couple of incompletions, Jake C. punched it in from one yard out. Coming out of the half, the Silver Knights capped off a 7-minute drive with a rushing touchdown to make it 35-21. On the Viking’s next drive, Jack Y. threw a 12-yard strike to Dylan R., but it was one yard short of the first down, and the Vikings would be stopped on the next play. Another two Silver Knights’ touchdowns followed, and the game ended 42-21. This loss drops the Vikings to 1-3 with league play starting next week.
