Girls Track Places 1st at Pat McMillin Invitational

With three track meets in one week, the girls track team competed at Big Walnut and Rutherford B Hayes and placed 4 in the 1600, followed by a 5th place in the 800 relay. The girls took bronze in the 4×100 relay at 56.74 and silver in the SHR relay in 1:10.48, and  placed third in the 4×400 relay, the 4×800 relay, and the DMR relay. Allison K won place first in the girls high jumpand long jump closing out the meet strong.

On Wednesday, April 13, the girls faced off against Fairfield Union and Amanda-Clearcreek and began with a first place finish in the 4×800 in 11:52.70. Allison K, Irena ., and Nina K. placed in the top three for the 100 meter dash. Second place finishes in the 4×100 relay were gained by Samantha F.in the 400, Zoya . in the 300 meter hurdles, and Caitlynn Hin the 200. Allison K landed 1st in both the high and long jumps. The girls placed second in the meet.

Their last meet of the week was a triumph. The girls competed against 10 schools at the Pat McMillin Invitational at Whitehall on April 16. Zoya A surpassed the Academy record in the 300 hurdles with a time of 48.93. The girls maintained this fantastic energy and won the 4×100, 4×400, 4×800, 800 sprint medley relay, and the shuttle hurdles relays. They placed second in the 4×200 and in the distance medley relays. Melanie Q placed second in the mile at 5:55.96. Tori R won second in discus. The girls continued to rack up points with Allison K and Liliana L claiming silver and bronze in the high jump. Allison K also won the long jump with a distance of over 16 feet, beating the competition by over a foot.

By outshining the competition, the girls placed 1st with 139 points! 

The team competes away against Worthington Christian and Grove City Christian on Tuesday, April 19 at 4:30 p.m.
