Girls Track Dominates in First Meet

On Wednesday, April 6, the girls track team had its first meet against London, KIPP Academy, and Rosecrans. Academy placed second in the 4 x 800 relay and first through fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.

Nina K. finished second in the 100-meter dash followed by another second place finish from Melanie Q. in the mile. The team placed second in the 4 x 100-meter relay followed by a first-place finish from Caitlynn H. in the girls’ 400-meter dash. 

Zoya A. placed first in the 300-meter hurdles with Samantha F. winning the 800. Melanie Q. placed first in the 2-mile, clocking in at 13:06.51. The Vikings also won the 4 x 400 relay.

While the track team was racing hard, the field team was also doing well. Allison K. placed first in the high jump with a mark of 5’ 2,” and Tori R. placed first shot put with a mark of twenty-nine and a half feet. To finish out the meet, Lindsay S. placed second in the discus with a mark of 81’. 

The girls ended up dominating the other teams with second place being 52 points behind them.

The girls compete against Big Walnut on Monday, April 11, at 4:30.
