On Friday, December 3, the boys swim team dominated Bishop Watterson, 123 to 41 at home.
Alek Balaloski, Drake Bellisari, William Harpster, and Andy Li kicked off with a first place finish in the 200 medley while Luke Boltz, Mircea Butnariu, Jono Hammond, and Edison Lin secured third.
Balaloski triumphed in the 50 freestyle and Harpster received gold in both the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke. Gavin Lewis netted two wins in the 200 and 100 freestyle. Li placed first in the 100 butterfly, with Balaloski in second.
In the 500 freestyle, Boltz, Hammond, and Dorian Bristol placed first, second, and third respectively, earning 13 team points. Also key were Cyrus Hannallah who placed second in the 100 breaststroke and in the 50 freestyle. Greyson Thomas ranked in the 100 backstroke.
The boys received first and second in the 200 freestyle, and the team ended with another one-two finish in the 400 freestyle relay.
On the following morning, Saturday, December 4, Academy hosted Bexley, Delaware Hayes, Gahanna Lincoln, and Wellington for relays. The Vikes secured second with 74 points, losing only to Gahanna Lincoln with 110 points.
Bellisari, Hannallah, Li, and Thomas finished second in the 400’s. Boltz, Hammond, Harpster, and Cy Richardson earned first in the 800 freestyle.
After a disqualification in the 300 medley, the Vikes responded with a fifth place in the 200 freestyle and bronze in the 200 butterfly.
Netting silver in the 500 freestyle were Bristol, Hammond, Thomas, and Max Popp. Coming in third in the backstroke were Harpster, Popp, and Michael Raimondo.
Hannallah, Richardson, and Matt Tolliver captured fourth in the 300 breaststroke while Balaloski, Bellisari, Boltz, and Li picked up a win in the 400 freestyle.
The Vikes host Grandview Heights on Friday, December 10, and again on Saturday, December 11, and will be joined by Beechcroft and Teays Valley.
