Beggar’s Night on Hondros: players dress in costumes.
On Wednesday, October 20, the 4-seed Academy field hockey team hosted 16-seed Dublin Jerome in the first round of states. The Vikes impressed in the match, winning 6-0 with contributions from throughout the squad.
The team plays in the second round against 5-seed Upper Arlington, who tied the Vikes earlier this season 0-0, on Tuesday, October 26 at home. Meanwhile, on the other side of the bracket, 2-seed Thomas Worthington, who beat Academy 2-0 earlier in the season, could be the squad’s next opponent should the team win against Upper Arlington. Top competitors New Albany, Bishop Watterson, Shaker Heights, and Hudson are all also advancing in the tournament, so it should be a fierce battle for the state title this year.
