Begging for a Good Cause

Academy resumes its annual Begging for Cans Drive (Courtesy/Tim Morford)

Although older US students no longer collect candy on Beggar’s Night, they can still enjoy the evening by helping the community by going from door-to-door and asking for canned food items in Mr. Morford’s neighborhood on Thursday, October 28, from 5:45 – 8pm.

Up to 30 beggars will canvas the neighborhood behind CA’s tennis courts. All donations will augment this year’s Kids-4 Kids Food Drive which began on Monday, October 25.

Thanks to Service Board Shaper, Tara Hoffman who leads this year’s event and Mr. Morford who, for the past 13 years, graciously offers his home as the event’s headquarter.

It’s not too late to participate in this 22-year old CA tradition. Sign up outside the SHACK.

“Begging for Cans provides a great opportunity to be with your friends and feel like a kid again all while helping the community,” says Hoffman.
