Academy Wins in Fort Larmie Thriller

On Friday, October 3, the football team edged out Fort Loramie 29-28 at home crowd after the Charlie David dinner.

Emmanuel Jenkins intercepted a pass for a touchdown and scored the first points of the game. Carter James quickly secured another touchdown with a 4-yard run. Max Popp followed up on both touchdowns with an extra point as the Vikes closed out the first quarter with a 14-0 lead over the Redskins.

Fort Loramie dominated the second quarter with a 3 yard-run and a 45-yard pass for two touchdowns. Despite a failed extra point attempt after the first touchdown, Fort Laramie tied a 14-14 result after a 2-point conversion.

Academy surged in the third quarter and lead with a 46-yard touchdown pass to Parker Logan and another extra point. Fort Loramie answered with a 20 yard touchdown pass, followed by a 2 point conversion to end the quarter– narrowly ahead at 22-21.

Fort Laramie continued its momentum into the fourth quarter, opening it with a 26-yard touchdown pass followed by another failed extra point. With 2:58 left on the clock, Henry Rubey ran 52 yards to bring the score to 27-28.  Rubey and Logan sealed the win with a 2 point conversion to edge Fort Loramie by 1 point.

The Vikes will head into their game against Grandview Heights on October 8 at home with a 3 game winning streak.
