Girls Track Dominates at Home, Falls in Division I Meet

The Columbus Academy girls track team had a dominant performance on their April 27 the Senior Night. Olivia Archibald, Hannah Clay, Regan Cornelius, and Olivia Pierre-Louis were recognized for their dedication to the track program. This was far from the only thing to celebrate about this meet, however.

The Vikes took on London and Delaware Christian, and came away in first place. Our girls won everything, as the seniors led the way. Clay took first place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.08, with Cornelius doing the same in the mile run at 5:28.27. That wasn’t the end for this outstanding duo, either. Clay also won the 200 meter dash at 26.02, and Cornelius won the 800 meter at 2:30.89. Continuing the senior trend, Pierre-Louis won the high jump at 5 feet, and Archibald finished third in the 300 meter hurdles at 59.31.

Our girls knew the April 30 meet at Canal Winchester would be a real challenge–all Division 1: Canal, Fairfield Union,  Groveport Madison, New Albany, Pickerington Central, Pickerington North and Reynoldsburg. Academy finished last. Clay finished eighth in the 200 at 28.30 and fifth in the 400 at 1:06.48. Freshman standout Caitlynn Hinds placed seventh in the 400 at 1:07.01. Cornelius finished third with a season record of 5:31:12.

Our girls next meets are on May 5 at home against Bishop Watterson, and on May 7 at Otterbein, against multiple teams including Westerville Central.
