Coming off a win against Elder, our boys were ready to take on one of the teams’ toughest opponents and rivals: Bishop Watterson.
Searching for their program’s first ever win against the Eagles, the Vikes went down early, but Jake Carlin’22 ensured CA continued to earn possession, winning 17/26 faceoffs. Zach White’22 was dominant on offense, with six goals and three assists to his name. The rest of the squad fed off of White’s success, as Henry Rubey’22 notched three goals and an assist, and Kyle Carlin’22 scored twice. The Eagles could not handle the depth of the Vikings squad, with Drake Bellisari’22, J. Carlin, Miles Friedman’23, and Chris Sugar’21 each adding a goal to the tally, and Davey Agrawal’22 earned an assist. Not to be outdone, Kyle Bernstorf’22 was a force in goal, saving 16 shots and helping pave the way to a 15-13 victory, and Academy’s first ever win against Watterson.
Riding high, the Vikings visited Turpin High School on Saturday, April 24. The Spartans were no challenge for our boys, who by halftime had a 14-1 lead before slowing the offensive roll and ending the game with an impressive 18-2 victory. White again had 6 goals, paralleling his earlier success, while Friedman scored 3.
Fresh off of two wins, CA hosted Culver on Sunday, April 25, for what proved to be a close matchup. Trailing for most of the game, the Vikes knew the team needed something spectacular and played shutdown defense for the last quarter while the offense battled for goals. Our boys walked away beaming, ending the game with a 12-10 win.
With a record of 6-2, the Vikes will next host Licking Valley on Tuesday, April 27, before heading to Buckeye Valley on Thursday, April 29. To round out the week, Oakwood will come to Hondros on Saturday, May 1.
