Boys Track Off to a Solid Start

On Saturday, April 10, our boys track team traveled to Big Walnut High to run at the Red Edwards Relays against Big Walnut, Bishop Watterson, Centennial, Central Crossing, Grove City, Rutherford B. Hayes, Walnut Ridge, Westerville Central and Whitehall.

For the relays, Jack DeLuca’24, Emmanuel Jenkins’23, Gabe Eribo’23, and Vaughn Armour’21 finished seventh in the 4×200; in the 4×400, Jack Yeoman’24, Luke Nester’21, Zech Kim’23, and Sam Huyghe’21 ran to a fifth place finish; Jake Huddleston’21, Peter Heemann’22, Jono Hamond’23, and Vincent White’21 all contributed to a sixth place finish in the 4×800; and Huddleston, Hammond, Heermann, and Nester all flew to fourth place in the 4×1600. Then, Carey Yi’24, Skyler Simpson’21, Liam Ross’22, and Eribo jumped to a fifth place finish in the 4×110 shuttle hurdles. Unfortunately, Eribo, Jenkins, DeLuca, and Armour were disqualified in the 4×100.

In the medleys, Eribo, Manny Eribo’21, Jenkins, and Huyghe worked their way to fifth place in the sprint medley; in the 1200-400-800-1600 distance medley, Simpson, Ross, Stephen Wright’22, and Robbie Lucas’24 ran to a sixth place finish; and in the 800-200-400-1600 distance medley, White, Manny Eribo, Kim, and Nester earned first place.

Ben Anasis’22 and Gabe Taub’21 both threw personal records in shot put, placing 13 and 21, respectively. Then, Anasis, Taub, and Spencer Swartz’22 all threw PRs and placed 17, 14, and 26, respectively.

These results earned the team a sixth place finish out of ten–a solid start to the season. The team hosts its first home meet of the season on Tuesday, April 13 then competes at Whitehall on Friday, April 16.
