Girls Swimming Storms Districts

Academy’s girls dominated in districts on Thursday, February 18, with 8 state qualifiers. 

Alexandra Butnariu’22 took  6th in 100 free in 55.71. and nabbed 11th in the 200 free, with Ella Lowrie’24 placing 15th. 

Emma Yakam’22, Rene Fleege’24, and Charlotte Baker’24 conquered in the 100 breaststroke, securing 6th, 12th, and 17th, respectively. 

Lowrie swept the deck with a 10th place in the 500 free, before Mary Kate Prall’22 placed 6th in the 100 backstroke. 

Lauren Klinefelter’22 steamrolled in the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley with a bronze. Prall finished 8th and Yakam 12th in the 100 butterfly. 

Baker, Fleege, Lowrie, and Yakam earned 8th in the 200 free relay, before Butnariu, Klinefelter, Lowrie, and Prall secured 4th in the 400 free with a time of 3:45.59. 

Butnariu, Klinefelter, Prall, and Yakam wrapped up with a 3rd-place finish in the 200 medley, clocking in at 1:51.29. 

The Aquavikes head to states on February 24-26 at the Branin Natatorium.
