Facing off against 17-seed Worthington Kilbourne, 16-seed Academy played its first round of the CBJ Cup Tournament onWednesday, February 1
In the first period, Kilbourne struck twice to get an early lead. Unfazed, Academy came out in the second and tied it up with goals from Campbell Gwin’21 and Connor Harris’22. To start the second, Kilbourne regained its lead, but the Vikes tied the game up once more with Gwin’s second goal of the night. Kilbourne struck the game winner with 3:06 to go in the game, and a tired Academy squad failed to break through to tie it up.
With the CBJ cup still going, the Vikes will get a little rest before retaking the ice in districts against Archbishop Alter on Saturday, February 20.
