On Friday, January 29, Academy faced off against Olentangy Berlin at Chiller Easton. Berlin, in second place a division ahead of the Vikes in the Capital Hockey Conference, came out firing.

With 12:52 to go in the first, Berlin opened the scoring. The Bears tripled Olentangy’s score before the first period ended, with Academy unable to breakthrough for a goal.

Berlin came out strong again in the second period, scoring with 12:58 to go in the period, but this time Campbell Gwin’21 answered for the Vikes not two minutes later, assisted by Jake Carlin’22 and Andrew Zaki’22. Unfortunately, this did not slow down the Bears, who netted one more to close out the second.

In the third, the Bears added another three to their tally before the end of the game.

The Vikes were also slated to play on Saturday, January 30, but cancelled against St. Xavier because of dangerous travelling conditions. This cancellation will give the team a well-deserved rest.

The squad is still in fourth place in its division, just five points off first. Academy will look to make up the gap next weekend when it plays Athens at the Chiller Easton on Friday, February 5.
