Boys Swimming Wins MSL, Celebrates Senior Night

On Tuesday, January 26, our boys swim team defeated St. Francis DeSales 101-52 and celebrated Vera Anderson, Laura Campbell and Rowan Hennessey’21.

Off to a quick start in the 200 medley relay, juniors Drake Bellisari and Cyrus Hannallah, William Harpster’24, and Gavin Lewis’23 clocked in at 1:48.61.

Lewis and sophomores Luke Boltz and Jono Hammond secured second, third, and fourth, respectively in the 200 free. Cy Richardson’22, Hannallah, and Alek Balaloski’23 won the 100 free.

Lewis aced the 100 fly, Boltz took gold in the 500 free, and Harper nabbed first in the 200 IM at 2:18.83. Hennessy grabbed second in the 50 free, followed by Max Popp in third.

While Richardson and Hennessy secured silver and bronze in the 100 backstroke, Hannallah dominated at 1:08.15. Harpster finished 76 seconds behind. Bellisari, Boltz, Richardson, and Thomas won the 400 free relay in 3:41.16.

Competing against Bexley, Buckeye Valley, Grandview Heights, Wellington, and Worthington Christian on Friday, January 29 was no challenge for the Vikes, who won the meet with 337 points–129 points ahead of Bexley’s second-place finish–and the Vikes third consecutive MSL first place championship. 

In the 200 medley, Bellisari, Boltz, Hannallah, and Lewis nabbed second behind Wellington with a time of 1:45.56.

Boltz, Richardson, Hammond, and Dorian Bristol’24 then racked up the points in the 200 freestyle with their respective third, fifth, eighth, and tenth place finishes. Boltz secured bronze in the 500 free, Hammond and Bristol took fifth and ninth, respectively. Harpster nabbed third in the 100 backstroke, Hennessy placed fourth. Hannallah won bronze in the 100 breaststroke, Lewis grabbed the MSL runner up in the 200 IM, with Hannallah, Hennessy, and Raimondo following in fifth, seventh, and tenth, respectively.

Bellisari became the MSL champion in the 50 free, finishing in 23.56 seconds and won second-place in the 100 free.

Lewis, Richardson, Balaloski, and Vazirani securing third, fifth, sixth, and tenth, respectively, in the 100 butterfly.

To conclude the meet, Bellisari, Boltz, Lewis, and Richardson finished with a bang, winning the 400 free relay by over 9 seconds with a final time of 3:29.04.

The JV team will travel to the CSG natatorium on Saturday, February 6, for the JV Championships. Looking ahead to the postseason, our varsity Aquavikes will host sectionals on Saturday, February 13, aiming to qualify for the districtson Thursday, February 18.
