Winning Record for Boys Swimming

Our boys swim team started off its week with a bang, scoring 96 points against Bishop Hartley’s 38 and Wellington’s 34 on Tuesday, January 19, at home.

Cy Richardson’22 and Jono Hammond’23 took the Vikes to an early lead, nabbing first and third in the 200 freestyle, respectively. 

Drake Bellisari’22 was also a key contributor, dominating in the 50 free with a time of 23.47. Hennessy followed close behind, netting silver just 1.67 seconds behind Bellisari. Alex Balaloski’23 steamrolled his opponents in the 100 butterfly, clocking in at 1:03.55.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Balaloski, Lewis, Richardson, and Greyson Thomas’24 placed first with a final time of 1:37.59, while the squad of Bellisari, Luke Boltz’23, Cyrus Hannallah’22, and Hennessy took third under than 2 seconds later.

Later, Hammond secured silver in the 500 freestyle, while teammates Gavin Lewis and Boltz finished first and second in the 100 freestyle, respectively. 

Balaloski, Boltz, Lewis, and Richardson wrapped up the meet with a victory by over 7 seconds in the 400 freestyle relay, finishing with a record time of 3:39.37.

On Friday, January 22, our boys returned to the pool and triumphed against Delaware 107-55.

Bellisari, Boltz, Hannallah, and Lewis kicked off the meet with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay at a time of 1:48.70, just 1.5 seconds behind first.

Dorian Bristol’24, Hannallah, and Lewis brought it home in the 200 IM, taking the top three respective spots. Bellisari, Richardson, and Thomas continued the trend, finishing first, second, and third in the 50 freestyle, respectively.

Lewis followed with a victory in the 100 freestyle with a final time of 51.14, while Boltz dominated in the 500 freestyle.

The 200 freestyle relay squads continued the trend, as Balaloski, Hannallah, William Harpster’24, and Hennessy netted gold, closely followed by Alex Nanda’23, Max Popp’22, Michael Raimondo’24, and Raaghuv Vazirani’22 who finished second with a time of 2:02.82.

Harpster conquered in the 100 butterfly, while Hannallah, Hennessy, and Richarson grabbed the top three respective spots in the 100 breaststroke.

To finish the day, Bellisari, Boltz, Lewis, and Richardson crushed their opponents in the 400 freestyle relay, winning by over 10 seconds with a time of 3:39.20.

The male Aquavikes returned on Saturday, January 23, to face Pickerington North but unfortunately fell 67-103.

Balaloski, Bellisari, Lewis, and Thomas started off with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay, clocking in at 1:50.58. Lewis continued the trend into his individuals, nabbing second in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, before Bellisari did the same in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Thomas also secured silver in the 100 breaststroke.

In the 200 freestyle relay, the squad of Lewis, Richardson, Balaloski, and Bellisari raced to second, finishing with a time of 1:35.73.

Our boys finished the meet with a win by Boltz, Harpster, Richardson, and Thomas in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Aquavikes have a busy schedule. They will face DeSales on Tuesday, January 26, to celebrate Senior Night, before hosting the MSL championships on Friday, January 29.
