Unlike its predecessors, Dream Home Makeover does not flip houses or feature about designers’ competitionsdesigners. Instead, it focuses on a work-life balance to help us during our quarantine.
The first season begins with Shea and Syd McGee, owners of Studio McGee, and follows the couple’s dynamic renovations. Syd is less involved with the restoration process whereas Shea and her designersand other contractors, accomplish most of the construction. But with their little compliance to C-19’s protocols–from unmasked contractors to not standing 6 feet apart maskless indoors–the show misleads viewers about staying safe in a pandemic.
Rated TV-G, the show is fun to watch with family. A Netflix original, it first aired October 16, 2020, followed with a January 1st follow-up in the new year. It is a quick watch, with just 6 episodes per season and an episode average of 27 minutes.
