Last Thursday’s stormy weather did not stop the Service Board from door-to-door asking for canned food items on Friday, October 30, thanks to the flexibility of Mr. Morford, Tara Hoffman’22 and senior Sophia Sommer. Academy alumna parent, Donna Simmons, posted the rescheduled undertaking on social media, so neighbors could leave donations on their doorsteps. After Service Board provided pizza and snacks, served by Ms. Garita, Academy students collected enough food to fill 10 boxes.
Now our school will help at least 10 families and SB will host plenty of service activities this week.
Remember parental permission slips to shop at Meijer during the Sleep Out must be submitted by Monday November 3.
If you want to sort food donations on Thursday November 5, it’s not too late to sign up at the SHACK near Dr Losambe’s office. You may be treated to a visit from MS students who will be moving donations that day.
Friday’s 3rd Annual Sleep Out has 30 students committed to sort and set up food and hygiene donations in the Athletic Lobby and the Mac Gym. Students will hear this year’s Sleep Out speaker, Alissa Lopez, principal of Gahanna’s Royal Elementary School. Ten families from Lopez’s school will be helped by this year’s Food Drive 2.0.
Stayed tuned for next week’s article featuring more Service Board events!
