Halloween Redefined by COVID

(Maddie Martin’24/Staff)

What’s not to love about Halloween: dressing up, time with friends, lots of candy.  Along with so many other traditions, the celebration of this event, too, had to change. Although we could not observe trick and treat as we know it, people found ways to keep the spirit alive while staying safe.

Families make decisions everyday about how to keep their loved ones safe, whether that means doing online learning, not seeing friends in person, or individually packaging candy for Trick-or-Treat.

Health officials said the best ways to keep everyone protected and healthy was to set out individual bags of candy for kids to grab, wear masks whenever you’re with people outside of your family, and avoid gatherings, even small ones.  So people did come together within our communities to make Halloween possible, even in these unusual times.
