Girls Soccer Claims District Championship

After a 1-0 upset against number-three ranked CSG, our girls were ready to make a run for the State Championship.

CA faced off against number-two seeded Wellington on Tuesday, October 27, in the District Semifinals. The Vikes came out on fire, with senior Katie Schiano lasering in a ball early in the first, quickly followed by junior Aniah Crockett knocking another in. Our girls didn’t look back after halftime, and didn’t let the two goals the Jaguars snuck in phase them. Schiano scored two more to earn herself a hat trick and put the Vikes up 4-1, before junior Diana Ulbrich sealed the game off with a beautifully placed free kick.

Riding high off of the 5-2 win, the Vikings were determined to earn themselves a back-to-back District Championship. Taking on the number-one seeded Grandview Heights, our sixth-seeded girls proved the team was underestimated. Schiano snuck one past the goalkeeper nine minutes into the first, and stellar defensive efforts held the score to 1-0. Junior goalkeeper Sophie Spolter came up big in the remaining minutes of the game, preventing numerous Bobcat attempts to even the score.

Next up, our District Champions are facing off against Berlin Hiland on Tuesday, November 3, at Hiland High School.
