Girls Soccer with a 3-0 Win Streak

Our girls soccer team kicked off a busy week on Tuesday, October 13, facing off against rival Wellington at home. Junior Sophie Spolter played her way to a shutout, while goals by senior Katie Schiano and junior Emma Yakam propelled the Vikes to a 2-0 win, while the team is excited about a prospective rematch in the postseason.

Riding high, CA headed out to Tree of Life on Thursday, October 15, where Schiano continued her hot streak, netting two goals for the Vikings. Tree of Life couldn’t handle the offensive pressure our girls placed on them, and the defense crumbled as junior Aniah Crocket added two more goals. Fellow junior Mary-Kate Prall also knocked one into the back of the net to secure a 5-0 victory.

Closing out a busy week, the Vikes took on Bishop Rosecrans away on Saturday, October 17, to finish off the regular season. Sophomore Claire Cahall opened up the scoring for CA in the first half, and while our girls continued to apply pressure, couldn’t find the back of the net again until after halftime. Then, Schiano broke through to put the Vikings up 2-0, before less then a minute later making the score 3-0 off of a free kick from fellow senior Olivia Archibald. Bishop Rosecrans failed to retaliate, handing our girls a win for the final regular season game.

The Vikings will open up the postseason against Madison Plains on Monday, October 19, at home. With the way the team is playing, our girls are looking to make a long run in the state tournament.
