This week, our girls soccer team looked to continue its momentum from defeating Bexley in a thrilling match-up against two tough opponents.

The Vikes opened up the week traveling to rival Worthington Christian on Wednesday, September 30. The Warriors tied Bexley just a week earlier, so our girls knew this would be a close game, and close it was.

Sophie Spolter’22 made a few beautiful saves to hold Worthington Christian scoreless throughout the first half, while CA had its fair share of chances as well. The game was looking like a draw up until the last two minutes, when the Warriors slipped one through our defense to go up 1-0. Our girls battled back hard, but time ran out, and theysuffered a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat.

Searching to rebound, CA suited up to play Bloom-Carroll at home on Saturday, October 3. The game was a back and forth affair, leading to a draw at halftime. After the quick break, CA began attacking relentlessly, and at the 35 minute of the second half,  Katie Schiano’21 lasered a ball past the goalkeeper to put the Viking up 1-0. Unfortunately, CA could not hold the lead. Ten minutes later the Bulldogs drew a free kick and tied the game 1-1. Though our girls had chances the remaining 25 minutes, none found the back of the net, and the game ended in a tie.

The Vikes have a light week game-wise, with the only match being a trek to Buckeye Valley on Wednesday, October 7.
