April Absadity: Round of 16

Bracket for the Round 16 of April Absadity.

Last week, the committee – a whopping three people – voted on their favorite chores to go up against each other via a Google Form. Each region had eight tasks that required one response each. To get the score for each region, I added up the rankings 1-8 for each activity from each voter, with the lowest score being the lowest seed.

In the Productivity Region, we had eight candidates for the April Absadity tournament: cleaning your room, yard work, doing the dishes, laundry, organizing, walking your dog, DIY/home improvement, and cleaning out your inbox. Of these, only four could be picked to compete for the Productivity Region in the prestigious April Absadity tournament. Through the Google Form sent out last week, a clear top-four was picked.

The number one-seed with 9 points is . . . walking your dog!

The two-seed with 11 points is . . . organizing!

The three-seed with 12 points is . . . DIY/Home Improvement!

And finally, to round off the Productivity Region, drumroll please, tied with DIY/Home Improvement with 12 points . . . cleaning out your inbox!

Now onto the Academic Region. The eight tasks vying to compete in this year’s April Absadity were learning a new language, doing homework, writing, reading, playing an instrument, learning a new skill, summer program or job applications, and working on your resume. The picks are in, and:

The number one-seed with 9 points is . . .  learning a new language!

The two-seed with 10 points: learning a new skill!

The three-seed with 13 points playing an instrument!

And finally, to represent the Academic Region in April Absadity, drumroll please, tied with playing an instrument on 13 points-reading!

Over in the Leisure Region, the activities aimed to make it to the biggest stage in the country were family time, video games, watching TV and movies, internet shopping, listening to music, Zooming friends/family, sleeping, and enjoying the good weather.

The number one-seeded activity with 11 points is  Zooming friends/family! In the first round, they will face off against four-seed watching TV and movies with 13 points!

The two-seeded activity with 12 points is  enjoying the good weather! In the first round, they will face off against three-seed listening to music, tied with 12 points!

Finally, we come to the Athletic Region, closest of all to the Big Dance. The candidates for a spot in April Absadity were running, biking, solo sports drills, online workout videos and classes, pilates/yoga, conditioning, fishing, and golfing.

The seeds for the Athletic Region are running, with 8 points; online workout videos tied with 8 points; biking on 11 points and pilates/yoga on 13 points.

With the matchups set, there are no real big surprises, and I think we will have an exciting tournament ahead of us!
