On Tuesday, February 11, Academy hosted Buckeye Valley, which is third-ranked in the MSL. Knowing it was in for a challenge, the team wanted to get off to a hot start, which it did by jumping out to an early 13-8 lead.

The Vikes held the lead through halftime, starting the second half with a 27-20 advantage. The Barons rallied in the third quarter, going on a run in the middle of the third and claiming a 42-43 lead to start the final period. The Vikes stopped the downpour and turned up the heat, firing off 27 fourth-quarter points to take down the Barons 69-57. Academy won with 17 from Tanner Compton’22, 15 from Jared Kass’21, and another 14 added on by Carter Warstler’20.

On Friday, February 14 the Vikings traveled to a brutal atmosphere at Worthington Christian’s Senior Night. The game started off poorly for CA and never got much better. Down 4-16 at the end of the first and 8-31 at the half, the Vikes found themselves outmatched by the Warriors’ firepower. CA rallied in the third, but it was too little too late, losing 28-55.

Academy finishes off its regular season with a home game against Centerburg on Tuesday, February 18.
