On Saturday, February 8, our girls took on other top D2 teams at sectionals, looking to move on to districts after earning a stellar second place as a team.

Sophomores Lauren Klinefelter, Mary Kate Prall, and Emma Yakam, along with senior Annalise Grammel, swam to a second place in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:57.53.

Continuing the hot streak was sophomore Alexandra Butnariu,  Claire Richardson’23, Grammel, and Yakam with a third in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Rounding out the impressive relay results were Butnariu, Grammel, Klinefelter, and Prall, who won the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Individuals also impressed, as Butnariu fought her way to fourth in the 200 yard freestyle, as did Grammel in the 100 freestyle. Klinefelter doubled up on thirds in the 200 yard IM and 100 yard butterfly, as senior Taylor Warren and Prall placed fifth and sixth in the 100 yard backstroke out of 45 competitors.

The Vikings look to build on these results at districts on Wednesday, February 12, at Ohio State.
