The CA boys swimming team kicked off the postseason by hosting the Division II Sectional meet on Saturday, February 8. The AquaVikes finished with a total of 157 points, securing a second-place finish.
The boys started off with a bang, as senior James Cao, sophomore Cyrus Hannallah, and freshmen Gavin Lewis and Alek Balaloski took bronze in the 200 medley relay. Lewis then placed sixth in the 200 free, finishing with a final time of 1:56.10
Balaloski followed in the 50 free, finishing tenth out of 56 competitors. In the 100 free, Cao swept the deck with a fourth-place finish, with Lewis close behind at sixth.
Boltz secured a silver in the 500 free, followed by sophomore Cyrus Richardson claiming fifth with a final time of 5:43.49.
Continuing the momentum, the Vikes’ 200 free relay, swum by Balaloski, junior Rowan Hennessy, Hannallah, and senior Ezra Johnson, placed third, followed by Cao with another third-place finish in the 100 back.
To finish, Lewis, Boltz, Richardson, and Cao netted a silver in the 400 free relay with a final time of 3:31.36.
The AquaVikes continue to the district championship at Ohio State University on Wednesday, February 12.
