On December 10, Academy’s four-man In The Know squad took the floor at Ohio State’s Fawcett Center, making a statement victory against Columbus Alternative in a 420-250 victory. The match was aired this past Wednesday night, January 15 on WOSU PBS.

The Vikings continued their dominant season in this “Cerebral 16” contest, with seniors Andrew Cahall and Anay Reddy, along with juniors Lucas Huang and Gabe Taub, leading the team to a berth in the next round: the “Einstein Eight.”

Columbus Alternative kept the match close in the first half, trailing only 115-135, but coming out of the gates for the latter minutes of play, Academy couldn’t be contained.

Huang answered back-to-back math questions correctly, followed by a run of three correct answers by Taub, Cahall, Reddy, respectively.

The Vikes continued their momentum throughout the rest of the match, with a balanced attack coming from each squad member. Cahall and Taub well-tackled history questions, with contributions from Reddy in the geography department, and fast-thinking mathematics solutions by Huang .

This surge was enough to secure the Vikings a spot in the next round of the WOSU tournament, at which they will face Hilliard Darby on February 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fawcett Center.
