Kicking off the week, the Vikes faced off against St. Charles and Olentangy Liberty on Friday, January 17, at home.
Sophomores Lauren Klinefelter and Mary Kate Prall raced their way to first in the 200 yard freestyle and 200 yard IM, respectively. Meanwhile, senior captain Annalise Grammel dusted her competition in the 500 free by almost four seconds, capping off some impressive individual results.
An all-sophomore squad of Alexandra Butnariu, Klinefelter, Prall, and Emma Yakam stunned serious talent with a second place finish in the 400 freestyle relay.
With a quick turnaround, CA took on 6 top teams at home on Saturday, January 18, earning a dominant team victory with 399.5 points compared to second-places Bexley’s 333.
Prall once again impressed, winning the 200 IM and 500 freestyle, while Klinefelter claimed gold in the 50 freestyle and Grammel won the 100 butterfly. Butnariu also stood out, earning first in the 100 breaststroke.
Hannalah’20, Prall, Richardson’23, and Yakam bested 7 other teams to win the 200 medley, while Butnariu, Grammel, Taylor Warren’20, and Klinefelter continued the Vikings’ win streak in the 200 freestyle relay. Rounding out a successful day was Butnariu, Grammel, Klinefelter, and Prall with a win in the 400 freestyle relay.
The Vikes look to continue their hot streak when the team hosts Bishop Watterson on Tuesday, January 21, as a precursor for the MSL meet on Saturday, January 25.
