On Tuesday, November 5, our girls soccer squad lost to Cincinnati Country Day 4-2 in the state semifinal against Xenia.
The Indians netted the first three goals of the game, leaving the Vikes to play catch-up. Katie Schiano’21 knocked the first goal as the first half came to a close, leaving CA trailing 3-1 at halftime. Unfortunately, Country Day found the back of the net again early in the second half before Annalise Grammel’20 scored the final goal of the game to make the score 4-2.
Despite the disappointing end, our girls got further than any Academy girls soccer team in history in the postseason, with the best record in ever of 16-3-2. Emma Belford, Grammel, and Sarah Neltner make up one of the most successful senior classes the program has seen.
While the seniors will surely be missed, Schiano and sophomores Emma Yakam, Sophie Spolter, and Liesel Goldfarb will headline a strong Academy squad next year.
