On October 16, Academy’s Service Board partnered with the Red Cross to host our first blood drive of the year in the Athletic Lobby.

Organized by Mrs. Bening and Mrs. Crain, along with Service Board shapers seniors Lindsay Dunlap and Carolyn Zhang, the drive had 35 presenting donors and collected 30 units, which includes 5 units from power red cell donations-all of which have the potential to save 90 lives.

Twenty-one student volunteers worked at the event throughout the day, with 14 first-time donors. Students who encouraged their parents to donate received medals from the Red Cross.

Service Board’s second blood drive will be held on January 15, 2020.
