Girls Tennis Dominates at Districts

After a victorious sectional tournament, the Columbus Academy girls tennis team continued its success by sending two individual players and one doubles duo to the state qualifying tournament on Thursday, October 10, and Saturday, October 12.

On Thursday, Sydni Ratliff’21 breezed through tournament singles, winning both matches against Bexley and Jonathon Adler 6-0, 6-0. Alex Graham’20 followed close behind, conquering her Buckeye Valley opponent 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 and steamrolling her Wellington rival 6-1, 6-2. Naomi Chen’23 and Anna Chang’23 captured one victory over Wellington, winning 6-0, 6-2. The dynamic duo fought hard for another win against Worthington Christian but were outlasted 6-3, 3-6, 4-6.

After a dominant set of matches, Ratliff and Graham continued to Sunday, where they faced each other to decide the district champion. Both players fought hard, but Ratliff ultimately came away with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. 

Ratliff will continue to her third individual state championship on Friday, October 18, and Saturday, October 19 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
