On Friday, September 13, the Columbus Academy football team fell to 1-2 after a loss on the road against London, 48-7.
The Vikings struck first, with junior quarterback Brady Hess tossing a 31-yard dart to senior Carter Warstler. Senior Sam Massick booted home the extra point to give the Vikes an early 7 point lead.
Then it was all downhill from there. The Red Raiders’ rushing attack was too much to handle, as London recorded 446 rushing yards on the game. Over the next three-and-a-half quarters, the Red Raiders pounded the ball through the Academy run defense, with the final score being 48-7.
It wasn’t the Vikings’ night, as CA couldn’t move the ball either. Other than Hess’s big gain in the passing game, the team only accumulated 73 other yards. Hess was intercepted twice, and Warstler fumbled a punt to set up a Red Raiders rushing touchdown.
The Vikes are aiming to bounce back on Friday, September 20, with the Charlie David Dinner game against Whitehall at home.
