Kittie’s Cakes: Global Turned Local

Kittie’s Cafe at the Bexley location. (Tara Alahakoon’21/Staff)

From their international travels, former professional golfers Mollie and Kelly Fankhauser tasted worldly cuisine, cultivating their avid passion for baking. Following the end of their golf careers, they founded Kittie’s Cakes in Columbus, with a goal of creating a one-of-a-kind cake experience.

Voted best cinnamon roll in Columbus by Columbus Monthly, Kittie’s Bakery merges worldly flavors with American classics.

Both the bakery and cafe maintain a charming facade, drawing inspiration from quaint European coffee shops. A warm ambiance thrives in the space, with bags of coffee beans lining the walls and fresh-baked goods on display.

Kittie’s Bakery features cakes and pastries of all sizes, from miniature cupcakes such as Coconut Cream ($2.25) to a 7-Inch Layer Cake ($55). My favorite is the Buckeye Mini Cupcake ($2.25) with chocolate and peanut butter.

The cafe also offers a selection of breakfast items, including a Biscuit and Jam ($3.75) and a Banana Nutella Scone ($4.25). As a plus, Kittie’s serves homemade tea and coffee, including espressos ($2.50) and artfully decorated lattes ($4.00). I always enjoy a Maple Buttermilk Biscuit ($6.75) along with an iced tea ($3.00).

Whether I am out for a quick bite or having brunch with friends, I have discovered Kittie’s Cakes is a keeper.
