Girls Track has Two More Strong Meets

The girls track team looked to carry on its momentum from the previous week with two meets. They opened up the week with their first home meet of the season on Tuesday, April 9, against Northside Christian, Tree of Life and Patriot Prep.

Kiersten Thomassey kicked off the meet with a victory in the 100 meter dash, which was followed up by another victory for the Vikes in the 4 by 400 meter relay.

Next was the Hornet Invitational at Licking Heights on Friday, April 12. Standout Thomassey landed second place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.43 seconds, before placing third in the 200. Sophomore Hannah Clay edged out Thomassey to earn second with a time of 28.06. Clay also earned a victory in the 400 with a time of 1:04.26, followed by senior captain Samantha Kass with a 1:05.50.

The Vikings also performed well in the distance events. Junior Annalise Grammel earned first in the 800 with a time of 2:38.96, while sophomore Regan Cornelius and freshman Mary Kate Prall placed first and second in the mile, respecttively. Senior captain, Maddie Tuckerman, won the two mile by over a minute with a time of 12:42:18.

For the hurdles, Ginnie Ma placed third in both the 300 and 100. Junior Mabry Nichols won high jump, clearing a 5’2 inch bar, while Cornelius earned third in the long jump with a 13 flat.

The Vikings have two meets this week, the first on Wednesday, April 17 at Gahanna Lincoln and the second on Saturday, April 20 at Bloom Carroll.
