Boys Track Continues to Impress

Coming off of last week’s victory at Worthington Christian, the Vikes went into their first home meet against Tree of Life, Northside Christian, and Patriot Prep on Tuesday,  April 9, with confidence and continued their impressive form, winning the meet.

In distance events, Abhi Ramesh’19 and Alex O’Connor’20 flew past the competition to earn the top-three finishes in the 800 and 1600 meter runs.

Sprinters Ezra Johnson’20, Harry Mills’19, and Manny Eribo’21 impressed with podium finishes in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, and Mills and Johnson once again raced ahead of the competition in the 400 meter dash to win 1st and 3rd.

Field events also performed well, with Academy sophomores Vaughn Armour, Durell Moultrie, and Ethan Zochowski sweeping the long jump. Senior Caleb Crawley nabbed a victory in shot put, followed by junior Sam Lichten in 3rd place, who followed up his already impressive meet with a 2nd place in discus.

Last but not least, Eribo, Armour, junior Andrew Cahall, and senior Ethan Nankervis won the 4×400 relay, the only relay that took place

Academy raced again at Licking Heights on Friday April 12, placing third and continuing to impress in both relays and individual events.

Junior Charlie Sabgir took gold in the mile, holding off an opponent in the home stretch before placing third in the 800. Sophomore Sam Huyghe claimed victory in the 400, while senior Harry Mills had a pair of impressive races, earning third in the 100 meter dash and second in the 200.

Armour, junior Ezra Johnson, Mills, and Huyghe came up just short in the 4 by 400, narrowly missing first by under two-tenths of a second, while our 4 by 200 also claimed a second place finish.

Our Vikes have two upcoming meets this week: Wednesday, April 17 at Gahanna Lincoln and Saturday, April 20 at Bloom Carroll.
