Baseball Starts Regular Season Running

Following last year’s district championship and regional finals appearance, Academy’s baseball squad is out for vengeance. Led by their senior captains Hayden Compton, Jordan Dearing-Hardiman, Nick Rothman, and Evan Scott, the team started preseason with its annual trip to Myrtle Beach over spring break, where they lost against Rootstown 7-0 before rebounding against Timothy Christian 4-1.

The Vikes’ season opener was at Reynoldsburg on Monday, April 1. Although CA put up a good fight, the Raiders took the Vikes by storm, winning 0-3.

Our boys went back on the road the next day, Tuesday, April 2, to fight against Franklin Heights. The Vikings rebounded from their previous defeat to emerge victorious against the Golden Falcons 7-3.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t keep their momentum going, as they faced the the Granville Blue Aces away on Saturday, April 6. The Vikes conceded defeat in the hard-fought game: 7-13.

Looking to improve their 1-2 record, the Vikings will go against Pleasant for their first home game on Thursday, April 11, and round off the week with an away game against Newark Catholic on Saturday, April 13.
