Mid-March, Apple released both good and bad news: first, the release of its multiple updated devices- the latter, its highly anticipated AirPower’s cancellation.
Between March 18 and 20, an updated iPad Air, iPad Mini, and two iMacs along with the second generation of AirPods were released to the public.
To sum up what’s new, both iPads now have True Tone displays, A12 Bionic Chips for processors, and first generation Apple Pencil support while the 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMacs primarily obtained major processor upgrades. The new generation of AirPods contain an H1 chip, increasing its connection speed and battery efficiency. It also gained voice-recognition with Siri and a wireless charging case with better battery life.
A few days after these releases, on March 29, Apple announced the cancellation of AirPower: its wireless charging mat that was first announced in 2017. Apple stated that AirPower wasn’t able to achieve its high standards, and multiple rumors in 2018 of issues with heat management, inter-device communication, and interference foreshadowed this outcome.
Unless Apple makes any unexpected announcements, its next major event, WWDC 2019, should be coming up near the beginning of June.
