After training hard during spring break, the girls track team was excited to officially begin the season on Tuesday, April 2, with a meet at Worthington Christian. Facing off against WC, Briggs, and Northside Christian, our girls showed their prowess with multiple wins in both relays and individual events.
Seniors Samantha Kass and Maddie Tuckerman, junior Annalise Grammel, and sophomore Regan Cornelius started the meet off on the right foot with an easy victory in the 4 by 800.
Keeping the momentum going, junior Kiersten Thomassey flew by the competition to win both the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash, with times of 13.3 and 28.4 seconds.
Sophomore Hannah Clay was victorious in the 400, with a time of 1:04.8.
Not to be outdone, our distance girls also dominated the track, with junior Annalise Grammel winning the 800 in a time of 2:41.0, and freshman Mary Kate Prall emerging victorious in the mile with a time of 6:13.1.
Earning a second place finish as a team with a total of 77 points, the Vikings eagerly awaited their next meet on Saturday, April 7, at Liberty Union’s “Zuber Relays.”
Facing stiff competition, our girls once again showed off all of their hard work. Senior Maddie Tuckerman, junior Annalise Grammel, sophomore Regan Cornelius, and freshman Mary Kate Prall were victorious in the 4 by 1600, with a time of 23:54.1.
In the sprint medley, consisting of two 100s, one 200, and one 400, our girls also reigned supreme, with junior Kiersten Thomassey, junior Sarah Neltner, sophomore Olivia Archibald, and sophomore Hannah Clay zooming around the track.
The Vikings have two meets this week, the first on Tuesday, April 9 at home against Tree of Life, Patriot Prep and Northside Christian. The second is a dual meet at Licking Heights on Friday, April 12.
