The Vikings started off their season on a high note, racing to team and individual victories on Tuesday, April 2, at Worthington Christian.
Senior Caleb Crawley won both shot put and discus, while fellow senior Harry Mills left the competition in the dust in the 200 meter dash. Not to be outdone, sophomore Sam Huyghe took gold in the 400, as did sophomore Luke Nester in the 800.
Our boys’ relays also impressed, with sophomores Sam Huyghe, Jake Huddleston, and Luke Nester, plus junior Charlie Sabgir, cruising to victory in the 4 by 800. Rounding out the meet with a final win for the Vikes was Huyghe, Mills, junior Ezra Johnson, and senior Alex McClellan in the 4 by 400.
The Vikings wrapped up their week on Saturday, April 6, at Liberty Union’s “Zuber Relays.” Starting off the meet strong, Huddleston, Nester, senior Abhi Ramesh, and Sabgir emerged victorious in the 4 by 1600, before also winning the 4 by 800.
Our sprinters also had a strong showing, with senior David Barren, sophomore Manny Eribo, Johnson, and Mills earning wins in both the 4 by 100 and 4 by 200.
The Vikes are looking to continue their hot streak with their first home meet against Tree of Life, Patriot Prep, and Northside Christian, on Tuesday, April 9, and will end the week on Friday, April 12, at the Licking Heights Invitational.
