For one musical night, our Upper School Band and Choir programs performed a joint concert in the Schoedinger Theater last Tuesday, February 26th at 7:30 pm. In preparation for the upcoming Spring Break Disney Trip, the Treble Choir, Camerata, and Concert Band performed a total of 15 pieces, including ensembles.

Treble Choir began with “Galavik,” a traditional Armenian folk song. “Winter’s Waking” and “I Will Arise and Go” included melodic harmonies from the all female choir. An ensemble, composed of junior Maggie Ridgeway and seniors Sidney Edson, Aylah Mendenhall, Maddie McAfee, Courtney Bachelor, and Mira Bhasin, sang “Music When Soft Voice Die.”

Camerata took the stage next, singing beautiful renditions of “The Lake,” “Night on A Starry Hill,” and “Dirait On,” which they sang in French. To end the choir performance, both Treble Choir and Camerata sat on the edge of the stage to perform “White Winter Hymnal,” complete with accompanying hand rhythms to animate the song.

A brief intermission filled the space after the Choir Concert, leaving high expectations for the upcoming band performance.

The Concert Band opened strong, with the upbeat “Sunburst.” Cydney Platt’21, Raaghav Malik’22, and Hanna Yakoob’ 20 made up the sequential Flute Trio, performing Chamber Music for Trios. “In the Hall of the Mountain King” was next, performed by the second ensemble of the evening, the Low Brass Quartet including Ryan Reagan’22, Stephen Wright’22, Bea Sull’21, and Simon Iobst’20.

“As Summer Was Just Beginning” was the second piece performed by the full band, followed by the CA’s Flute Choir and the CA Brass Quintet performing “Allegro Maestoso” from “Water Music and Song,” “Choral.” and “March” respectively. The band closed with “La Belle Helene.”

The combined concert truly proved that the more the merrier!
