The CA boys basketball team took Horizon Science Academy to the cleaners on Thursday, January 17, as the Vikings delivered a 68-28 beatdown on their home floor.
Academy hit the gas to open the game as seniors Chris Boyle and Dorrian Moultrie each canned a pair of triples, and the Vikes bolted ahead to a 19-3 lead after the first quarter. Boyle and Moultrie finished with 12 points each to pace CA.
The Hawks chipped away at the deficit in a turnover-filled second period but found themselves trailing by just 9 at the break.
Horizon Science Academy’s momentum wouldn’t last any longer. The Vikings unleashed a 24-2 scoring stretch–featuring a transition poster dunk by senior Dalyn DeCree–that spilled into the fourth quarter and put the Hawks away for good. DeCree had 10 points on the night, his fifth consecutive game in double digits.
With another victory secured, Academy’s reserves took over, as every member of the Vikes got into the scoring column.
CA was slated to host Wellington on Saturday, January 19, but the matchup was postponed because of a snowstorm.
The Vikings will stay home to battle Gallia Academy on Monday, January 21, before traveling to Worthington Christian on Friday, January 25.
