Academy’s boys swimming squad has been hard at work over break, triumphing in dual meets over Olentangy Berlin on Saturday, December 15, Granville on Thursday, December 20, and Dover on Saturday, January 5. Heading into 2019, CA was undefeated in the pool.

To start the new year, the Vikings hosted Bishop Hartley, Wellington, and Madison Christian on Thursday, January 10, for Academy’s Senior Night. Kicking off festivities right at the start of the meet, the Vikes honored David Barren, Jacob Beck, Jack Campbell, Eric DeVore, Jacob Eismann, Ethan Nankervis, and Robby Simpson for their years of dedication to the sport. Academy easily beat out the competition to place first.

The AquaVikes then traveled to Canton for the annual Northeast Classic. The highly competitive invitational attracted 42 teams from around the state, and the Vikings placed thirtheenth overall. In the 100 free, Mike DeAscentis’20 placed 11 with a time of 48.25, while Campbell took 19 with a 50.06. Eismann was unfortunately disqualified in the final heat of the 200 free, but his 200 free relay, also swum by DeAscentis, DeVore, and Campbell, placed second with a time of 1:27.55. Campbell, Nankervis, James Cao’20, and DeAscentis also placed thirteenth for their 200 medley, clocking in at 1:42.68.

CA follows these successes when they host Bexley, Chillicothe, Hamilton, and Licking Heights for an invitational on Friday, January 18, before travelling to St. Charles for a meet against the Cardinals, Olentangy Orange, and Olentangy Berlin on Saturday, January 19.
