Bowling Needs Momentum in New Year

Two wins, two losses for Striking Vikings. (Kayla Podgurski’19/Media)

Academy’s bowling program finished off the second quarter decently, with the boys at 2-2 in their last four matches. On December 12, they fell to a strong Northland squad: 1755 to 1573. The Vikes’ December 14 bout also ended in defeat, with a 1641 to 1607 loss to the Centennial Stars. Going into Winter Break, the team heatd up with two decisive victories: first a walloping of Columbus South on December 19, followed with a strong showing against Village Academy the next day: 1469 to 1292.

Our girls also fell to Northland in a tight match: 1349 to 1319. Next up was a matchup with Centennial on December 14. Unfortunately, this was also a loss for our striking vikings. Keeping in theme of carrying momentum into the new year, the girls ended with a dub against South. This sweet victory came by the way of a 1409 to 1369 back and forth battle.

The first 2019 match for both squads was a Senior Night battle with the Whetstone on January 11th. Unfortunately, the program suffered two losses to the Braves. More momentum is needed for the Vikes’ upcoming matches
