Academy’s boys swim team had a packed weekend, facing Delaware Hayes in a dual meet on Friday, December 7, before heading to Ohio State’s Ned Reeb Memorial Invitational on Saturday, December 8.

The Vikes’ duel against the Pacers ended with an AquaVikes win of 100-64, a testament to their strength.

The Ned Reeb Memorial Invitational draws in a large number of schools from around the state, and though the Vikings did not place well overall, their individual races and racers had a chance to shine. Eric DeVore’19 placed 17 in the 50m freestyle, while Jack Campbell’19 took 19 in the race. The 200m freestyle relay, led by seniors Ethan Nankervis, Jacob Beck, DeVore, and Campbell, won in the consolation finals and placed 11 overall, and the 400m freestyle relay with James Cao’20, Nankervis, Drake Bellisari’22, and DeVore placed 17 overall.

Notably missing from these two meets was senior Jacob Eismann, who was competing at USA Swimming’s Junior Nationals. Eismann placed third overall in the 100m backstroke.

The Vikes travel to Olentangy Berlin on Saturday, December 15.
