On Saturday, October 27, Columbus Academy’s cross country teams travelled to Pickerington North to run in regionals. The Vikings competed against 15 other teams with hopes to earn a spot in the state meet.

The boys’ squad finished strong, earning 4th and punching one of the five tickets into the state meet. The fourth-place finish was led by stellar sophomore Luke Nester, who took 16th overall. Senior Liam McCann helped secure the Vikes’ spot, taking 24th.

Unfortunately, the girls’ season ended this Saturday, as they missed the mark by 3 places. Hindered by heavy rain and tough course conditions, the girls’ team placed 8th out of 17 teams. Junior Annalise Grammel placed 14th, paving her way to compete in the individual state meet next week. Regan Cornelius’21 just missed out, placing 23rd, as only the top 20 athletes move on to the individual race.

Grammel and the boys team look forward to competing in the state finals meet next Saturday, November 3, at the National Trail Raceway in Hebron.
