Academy’s field hockey girls have advanced to the second round of the district tournament following a Wednesday, October 17, win against Olentangy Berlin. The Bears were ranked 18th in the district following their inaugural season, while the Vikings were seeded first.

The game was fierce yet CA gained a lot of offensive opportunities, leading to a final 12-0 score that propelled the Vikings one step closer to a state title. Avie Smith’19 led the scoring with 3 goals, Mercedes Crestanello’19, Carolyn Bowman’19, and Regan Cornelius’21 all put in 2 each, and Carolyn Vaziri’22, Callista Popp’19, and Charlotte Adams’21 all scored once to achieve this total.

The Vikes face rival and 9th seed Bexley on Tuesday, October 23, for their last home match of the season. If Academy wins, it faces either Bishop Watterson or Olentangy Orange in district finals on Saturday, October 27, at Olentangy Liberty.
