Despite students takings the PSAT on Wednesday, October 10, many members of the CA community arrived in the athletic lobby to donate blood. Headed by Academy’s Service Board, Wednesday’s blood drive was the first of several with the goal of providing blood to central Ohioans in need. Academy teamed up with the Red Cross to ensure all necessary medical equipment was present.

Although the blood drive fell short of its goal, every bit of blood collected is useful. Still, there were 22 presenting donors which resulted in 19 units of blood collected. This is enough to save an estimated 53 lives in the central Ohio area!

These type of service events are only possible due to the generosity of student and faculty donors, along with the dedication of Service Board coordinators and volunteers. The Service Board hopes to continue this effort to donate in the coming blood drives.

The next drive is scheduled for Wednesday, January 16, and more donors are always welcome to join the life-saving effort!
