On Saturday, October 13, Columbus Academy travelled to Chillicothe to compete in the MSL league meet at Grandview Heights’ Camp Bobcat. The Vikes geared up to run in 40-degree weather, a stark change from the humid day on which they had run this course a few weeks ago.

The boys squad narrowly beat rival Bexley by only 3 points, enough to give the Vikes their fourth league title in a row. Senior Liam McCann’19 led the way, taking 4th. Luke Nester’21 ran alongside him, placing 5th, enough for both runners to earn All League First Team Honors.

The Vikes also had three runners secure All League Second Team Honors: Charlie Sabgir’20, Jake Huddleston’21, and Alex O’Connor’20. The boys placed 8th, 12th, and 14th, respectively.

The girls team also had a great week as it won league runner-up, losing to Bexley by 24 points. All League First Team runners,  junior Annalise Grammel and sophomore Regan Cornelius, led the Vikes. Senior Ryan Milbourne also earned Second Team Honors in her last league race.

The team looks forward to Districts in the coming week, hosted by Hilliard Darby on Saturday, October 20.
